I've been fishing in and around Durango for over nine years. Rainbows, browns, cutthroat, kokanee, and whatever else is willing. I fish the way most locals do: hike in, camp out, drive the long way around, or just walk down to the water after work with the dogs.

I fish the Animas, the San Juan below Navajo Dam, and the high country streams and lakes that don't show up in guidebooks. Rivers, creeks, still water, and the occasional saltwater trip when I can get away. Most weeks I'm on the water more than once, which is the only way to know what's actually happening out there.

I tie my own flies because the patterns that work here aren't always the ones in the bins. Local bugs, local sizes, tied for the water I fish. What's in the shop is what's in my box.

The newsletter is what I'd tell a friend who asked where to go this weekend. Flows, water temps, what's hatching, and which flies to bring. It's for anyone who fishes southwest Colorado and would rather show up prepared than guess.
