Who we are

Durango Fly Company is an online business in Durango, Colorado. We publish local fishing reports, run Trout Bot, a fishing assistant, and tie flies. By using the site or the Trout Bot app you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use them.

The reports subscription

• The subscription is $10 a month or $60 a year, billed through Stripe. It renews automatically at the same price until you cancel.
• You can cancel any time from your account page, which opens Stripe's billing page. Nothing more to do.
• When you cancel, your access continues to the end of the period you already paid for. After that it stops and you are not billed again.
• If a renewal payment fails, the full reports pause until a payment goes through. Stripe retries the card and emails you. Updating your card from your account page brings your access back as soon as the payment clears.
• We do not give prorated refunds for a partly used month or year.
• If we ever change the price, we will tell subscribers by email before it takes effect, and the new price applies only from your next renewal.
• A subscription is for one person. Please do not share your account or republish subscriber reports.

What the reports are, and what they are not

Our reports are observations of conditions: one angler, one day, one water, written the same day. They are not safety guidance, and they are not a promise about what you will find. Rivers change by the hour. Flows rise, storms build, ice forms, banks give way. Gauge readings on the site come from government sources, are marked provisional by those agencies, and can be late or wrong.

You are responsible for your own decisions on the water. Check current conditions, the weather, and the regulations yourself before you go, wade within your ability, and turn around when it does not look right. Fishing regulations are set by Colorado Parks and Wildlife and the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish, not by us. Always carry a valid license and check the current rules.

Trout Bot

• Trout Bot is an AI assistant. It can be wrong. Treat its answers as a second opinion from a well read friend, not as fact, and never as safety or legal advice.
• An account gets 3 questions a day. Subscribers get 25 a day. A question with a photo counts as one.
• It will not name a spot more specifically than our reports do. Please do not try to make it.
• Do not use it to break the law, to harass anyone, or to pull data out of the site in bulk. We may limit or close accounts that do.

Flies

The fly shop opens in November 2026. Until then nothing on the site is for sale, and patterns shown as not in the shop yet cannot be ordered. When it opens:

• We ship within the United States only, by USPS First Class.
• Shipping is a flat $5 per order, and free on orders of $40 or more.
• Payment and your shipping address are handled by Stripe at checkout.
• All sales are final. Flies are tied by hand and cannot be resold once they have been handled, so we do not take returns or exchanges.
• If an order arrives damaged, or we sent the wrong thing, email hello@durangoflycompany.com within 14 days of delivery with a photo and we will replace it at no cost to you.

Your account

You sign in with a link sent to your email, so keep that email account secure. You can ask us to delete your account and everything in it at any time. See the Privacy Policy.

Our content

The reports, photos, videos, fly patterns as presented, and the site itself belong to Durango Fly Company. You are welcome to share a link. Please do not copy reports or photos elsewhere without asking.

No warranty, and limits on liability

The site, the reports, and Trout Bot are provided as they are. We work to keep them accurate and running, but we do not promise they will be error free or always available. To the extent the law allows, Durango Fly Company is not liable for injury, loss, or damage that comes from relying on the site, the reports, or Trout Bot, and our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before it.

The law that applies

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado.

Changes

If these terms change, this page changes first and the date at the top changes with it. For changes that affect subscribers, we will also send an email.
